GOODYEAR, Ariz: In many cases, it’s difficult to really mimic a regular season situation while in spring training. The atmosphere is different, players could be working on specific elements of their game and the ball flies differently in Arizona than it does in Cleveland.
Maybe more-so than any situation, it’s hard to duplicate an important save situation in a spring training game. So, it’s tough for Indians closer Cody Allen to truly replicate that scenario until he’s in the middle of it in April.
“Balancing getting ready for a season, especially when you’re a closer, can be difficult because you’re not really pitching in that situation,” Indians manager Terry Francona said.
