Indians Claim Pitcher Jordan Stephens Off Waivers From the White Sox

The Indians today added another pitcher to their organization, claiming righty Jordan Stephens off waivers from the Chicago White Sox.

Stephens is 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, and was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 draft out of Rice University.

In five minor league seasons with the Sox he’s 21-31 with a 3.98 ERA, making 79 starts appearing in 92 games (436.2IP, 431H, 217R-193ER, 154BB, 429SO).

Stephens has spent the majority of the 2019 campaign at Triple-A Charlotte (3-4, 8.39 ERA in 9G/6GS), also making one start at High-A Winston-Salem.

The native of Houston has already had Tommy John surgery, which cost him most of his college season in 2014.
