The Cleveland Indians made the Cesar Hernandez signing official Sunday morning. That meant a corresponding move had to be made to clear a roster spot.
Catcher Eric Haase ended up being the one let go.
To allow room on the 40-man roster for Hernández, C Eric Haase was designated for assignment.

Haase only appeared in a handful of games in 2018 and 2019 and the trade for Sandy Leon earlier this offseason gave the team a new backup catcher.
