Indians beat Mariners 4-3; Shaun Marcum better, Jerry Sands goes deep

Shaun Marcum was much better than his last time out and the offense did just enough in a 4-3 win against the Seattle Mariners Saturday night.

Marcum (2-0) was solid in his first start this season but was shelled against Texas in his last time out. Saturday night against the Mariners, he returned to his former form, allowing two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings and striking out five.

Marc Rzepczynski recorded an out and Zach McAllister and Nick Hagadone each threw an inning to get to Cody Allen (11), who notched a four-out save.

Nick Swisher gave the Indians (23-26) a 1-0 lead in the first with a sacrifice fly that scored Mike Aviles.
