The Indians added another option to the bullpen on Monday, signing right-hander Craig Stammen to a minor-league deal that includes a non-roster invitation to camp this spring.
Converted to a reliever in 2010, Stammen, 31, has spent his entire major-league career with the Washington Nationals. In 229 appearances, he has compiled a 3.91 ERA with 370 strikeouts in 490u2154 innings.
Last season, Stammen pitched only four innings before being shut down on April 19 with forearm/elbow complications that required season-ending surgery. In 2014, he went 4-5 with a 3.84 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 72u2154 innings.
The Indians now have 19 pitchers vying for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen.
