CLEVELAND -- There are nights when only a handful of runs are sufficient in supporting an outing by Indians starter Corey Kluber. On Friday night, the Tribe hitters launched a quintet of home runs that backed their ace and withstood a late rally by Seattle.
Five players cleared the fence for Cleveland in a 6-5 victory over the Mariners at Progressive Field, allowing Kluber to settle into cruise control over 8 2/3 innings. The right-hander piled up 10 strikeouts and limited Seattle to three runs, picking up his fourth win of the season.
Francisco Lindor got the Tribe's power display going with a leadoff shot against Seattle righty Erasmo Ramirez in the first inning.
