Two things.
First, it’s Opening Day. Tonight (or tomorrow morning, wherever you are) the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics will open the MLB season in the Tokyo Dome. This post is not about that. Opening the season in Japan is great, and I love it. I’ve been to the Tokyo Dome, it’s a fantastic place to see a baseball game even if it’s indoors. Tune in (or don’t) at 5:35 am EST on March 20th. I know for many it’s not really Opening Day because the hours are prohibitive. And let’s be honest, it’s 5:35am EST, that’s 2:35 am PST, in which both of these teams reside.
