Hot dogs and baseball just go together: How the humble frank fares with Tribe fans

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Just like buttered popcorn at the movies, the hot dog is the go-to food at Major League Baseball parks in the United States.

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC) estimates Americans consume 20 billion hot dogs a year -- and about 9 percent of those are purchased at ballparks.

The NHDSC predicts baseball fans will consume nearly 19 million hot dogs during the 2017 baseball season.

"Year after year, hot dogs continue to hit it out of the park at the concession stand," said NHDSC President Eric Mittenthal.
