Hagadone exits rehab outing with elbow discomfort

CLEVELAND -- Indians left-hander Nick Hagadone exited a Minor League rehab appearance earlier than expected on Wednesday night due to discomfort in his throwing elbow.

Hagadone, who was pitching in his first rehab game with Class A (short season) Mahoning Valley, left after recording one out in the fifth inning against Auburn. The Indians indicated Hagadone would be further examined and they should have more information on the extent of the injury within the next day or two.

Cleveland, which placed Hagadone on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain on July 8, opens the second half with a three-game series against the Reds in Cincinnati, beginning Friday.
