The Cleveland Guardians’ bullpen rebounded from a rough series against the Rangers to shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates as the offense unloaded in an 11-0 win Monday night.
Pirates starting pitcher Quinn Priester, a 22-year-old rookie making his big league debut, breezed through the first three innings and only needed 25 pitches to do it. The Guardians failed to get the ball out of the infield, grounding out in eight of their first nine at-bats. Their fortunes started to change the second time through the order. Steven Kwan was the first to reach base, drawing a walk to lead off the fourth inning.
