After turning heads with a road trip that culminating in them take 2 of 3 from the Toronto Blue Jays, the Cleveland Guardians have returned home and lost 2 of 3 to the last-place Detroit Tigers. Tuesday night’s 4-3 loss drops the Guardians’ season record against the Tigers to 9-9, with a chance to split this four-game set and win the season series on Wednesday.
This game was doomed from the start.
Cleveland starter Zach Plesac pitched a scoreless first inning until the replay crew in New York decided he didn’t. With two outs and Javier Baez on second, Tyler Freeman went to field a soft grounder up the middle from Harold Castro but it hit the bag at second and bounced over his glove.
