CHICAGO -- Indians shortstop Erik Gonzalez exited Wednesday's game against the White Sox after being hit in the head by a pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field.
In the eighth inning, when Cleveland held a 10-0 lead over Chicago, Gonzalez was hit on the left earflap of his helmet by a 92.7-mph fastball from Chicago reliever Rob Scahill. Gonzalez fell to the ground hard and was helped to the visitors' dugout after being checked by one of the Indians' athletic trainers.
More information will likely be available after the game from Cleveland manager Terry Francona.
