In case you missed the news from Indians headquarters this morning, Tribe manager Terry Francona underwent heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday. The operation, intended to correct a cardiac arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, was considered a success. Francona is expected to be released from the Clinic within a day or two, and plans to resume his managerial duties one week from today. He will not manage the American League All-Star team in Miami next week; that honor will go to Indians bench coach Brad Mills.
Tonight the Indians welcome their AL Central rivals, the Detroit Tigers, to Progressive Field for the first game of a three-game series.
