Cody Allen, along with some shrewd strategy and the help of dominant setup man Andrew Miller, nearly helped the Indians break their World Series slump back in 2016, saving game three of the World Series and not allowing a run in the three times he took the mound.
For five years Allen was very good as the Tribe closer, saving 147 games in those years from 2014 to 2018 before he and the team parted ways after his deal was up after the 2018 season.
Shoulder issues caught up with Allen, who didn’t last a whole season with the team he inked with before 2019 with the Angels, and from there he bounced to the Rangers, Cubs and Twins.
