HOLT, Michigan -- A recent guest column by Jacob Hutt published on cleveland.com April 2 decried the inherent racism in both the Chief Wahoo logo and the team name itself. Anecdotally, there seems to be disproportionate media coverage for advocates of change. Consequently, I felt compelled to make a case for keeping the name and logo, even though that doesn't seem to be in fashion these days.
The chiefest (pun intended) argument against the name and logo seems to be that they are racist. Debating what is racist and how to define the terms "racist" and "racism" is beyond the scope of what I want to say in this article.
