CLEVELAND, Ohio - Xavier pitcher Zac Lowther, a Cuyahoga Heights High School graduate, was selected 74th overall Monday evening by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound left-hander finished his Xavier career with 249 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.18 in 48 games. As a sophomore, he led the Big East Conference in strikeouts (84) in 2016.
During the spring, Lowther set the school record for strikeouts with 115. He became the first baseball player from Xavier to be ranked in Baseball America's Top 100.
