The Baseball Reliquary, which collaborates with the Institute for Baseball Studies at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif., has a lot to offer in addition to the Shrine of Eternals. It's a repository of the bizarre in baseball, including the athletic supporter worn by Eddie Gaedel, the 3-foot-7-inch pinch hitter who Bill Veeck, then owner of the St. Louis Browns, sent to the plate to draw a walk, which he did.
The Reliquary artifacts are kept in storage and are hauled out every so often for themed exhibits in the Los Angeles area. Other pieces of interest include the sacristy box used to give Babe Ruth his last rights before he died in 1948, and a rubber replica of the detached finger that gave old-time pitcher Mordecai "three finger" Brown his nickname.
