NEW YORK -- Working with a taxed bullpen, Indians manager Terry Francona asked a lot of closer Cody Allen in the Bronx on Sunday. That decision backfired, spoiling a stellar start from Mike Clevinger and resulting in a 7-4 walk-off loss and a weekend sweep at the hands of the Yankees.
Following Allen's exit in the ninth, the decisive blow was a game-winning, three-run home run off the bat of Gleyber Torres against Indians reliever Dan Otero.
Clevinger logged a career-high 116 pitches while limiting the Yankees to one hit -- a leadoff single by Aaron Hicks in the fifth -- over 7 1/3 innings.
