The Cleveland Indians announced yesterday that Zach Walters would miss five months after undergoing a shoulder surgery. Friday’s operation came as a result of a torn labrum from a dive into home plate during the third game of the International League finals. In that game, he hit for the cycle in four plate appearances.
This season has been one to forget for the 26-year-old. The switch-hitter, whom the Cleveland Indians acquired for Asdrubal Cabrera, hit just four singles in 30 plate appearances with the Tribe this season, and his more extensive minor league season was not much better.
