Welcome back Corey Kluber. The Cleveland Indians have been waiting patiently for this version to return. Against the best team in baseball, Kluber struck out 18 Cardinals, allowed one hit–a single to Jhonny Peralta in the 7th–and that was it. If this is an indication he’s returning to form, the Indians still have a chance.
However, the offense failed to provide much support of the effort. When Kluber allowed the one hit, it brought the tying run to the plate. One mistake could have changed the entire game. This is why the decision to pull him in the ninth in favor of Cody Allen was the right choice.
