CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians completed their first splash in the free-agent pool on Thursday.
Well, maybe they just dipped their toes in the water.
The club signed outfielder Shane Robinson to a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training. Robinson, who turned 31 last month, batted .250 with a .621 OPS and six stolen bases in 83 games for the Twins in 2015.
The Indians are desperate for bodies to fill out their outfield. Robinson likely is not the answer to the void in center field or to the vacancy in left created by Michael Brantley's shoulder surgery.
