CLEVELAND, Ohio -- If the Indians hadn't signed Boone Logan, there would be a crowded competition for the second left-handed reliever spot in the team's bullpen.
Instead, a lengthy list of lefties and righties will battle for one or two vacant bullpen roles during spring training. Southpaw James Russell is the latest addition, as he signed a minor-league pact that includes an invite to the club's spring camp.
Russell, 31, owns a 4.09 ERA across parts of seven seasons in the big leagues, spent with the Cubs, Braves and Phillies. He split last season between Philadelphia and the organization's Triple-A affiliate.
