CINCINNATI -- The Indians have signed free agent outfielder David Lough to a minor league deal and assigned him to Class AAA Columbus.
Lough, 31, is an Akron native who played at Green High School. He has spent parts of five seasons in the big leagues with Kansas City, Baltimore and Philadelphia from 2012 through 2016. He went to spring training with the Tigers this year and played 24 games for Class AAA Toledo before being released on Wednesday.
The Royals drafted the left-handed hitting Lough in the 11th round in 2007.
