CLEVELAND, Ohio – Before the Cavaliers won the NBA title on Sunday night with a Game 7 victory over Golden State, Sandy Alomar was a member of the last Cleveland team to play a Game 7 with a world championship at stake.
The year was 1997 and Alomar was having a career year as a catcher with the Indians. The Indians lost the World Series in the 11th inning of Game 7 to the Miami Marlins. Alomar, now the Indians first base coach, watched Sunday's game hoping for the best, but with his stomach flip-flopping.
