Ryan Merritt will always be remembered for his great outing in the 2016 ALCS, but Cleveland Indians fans are hoping for a title in 2017. And with the way he pitched Friday night, Merritt could be called upon to help this team chase that goal in October.
Merritt went a career-high 6.2 innings in a 4-0 win over the Kansas City Royals, allowing no runs on seven hits and striking out three batters.
His longest start before last night came on September 30 of last year, when he went five innings in a victory against the Royals.
