Holt offers mainly speed and defensive ability, two things that the Tribe has sorely lacked this season.
With David Murphy having been traded to the Angels last night, there was an open spot in the outfield. That spot has now been filled by the 26yo right-handed Tyler Holt, who last appeared for the Tribe in a couple of rather inauspicious games against the Blue Jays at the start of May. He made his debut last July and went on to feature in 36 games last season, hitting just .268/.307/.296, but valued at 0.3 fWAR overall because of his defensive contributions.
