The Indians will be without one of the best backup catchers in the league for at least a couple weeks.
Cleveland Indians backup catcher Roberto Perez is expected to be placed on the disabled list with a fractured thumb, reports Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plains Dealer. Perez injured his thumb in the fifth inning of Saturday night's game when he dove to prevent a run crossing the plate by tagging Peter Bourjos. Perez stayed in for the remainder of the game, but the injury was apparently rather severe.
