CLEVELAND, Ohio — Indians' outfielder Michael Brantley originally hurt his shoulder last September. His efforts at a comeback have become worthy of a poem by Homer. No, not Homer Simpson, but the Homer who wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey, two poems chronicling the Trojan War.
Brantley's heroic saga of trying to return to the field after hurting his shoulder would fit in either poem. He could be the great warrior Achilles from the Iliad, whose only weakness was his heel (read shoulder). Or he could be Odysseus from the Odyssey, whose voyage home from the Trojan War took 10 years.
