CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An Indians minor-league affiliate wants assistance in selecting a new team nickname.
High-A Lynchburg will drop its Hillcats moniker after this season. This week, the organization opened up the brainstorming process to the public with a "Name the Team" campaign. Fans can enter submissions until June 8.
The club will present six choices to the public for a vote. The creator of the winning entry will receive two lifetime season tickets at Calvin Falwell Field in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The team has carried the Hillcats nickname since 1995. Lynchburg, a member of the Carolina League, has served as an Indians affiliate since the start of the 2015 campaign.
