CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians are short on left-handed relievers with big league experience. Kyle Crockett and Giovanni Soto, the only two southpaw relievers on the Tribe's 40-man roster, have logged a combined 51 innings in the majors.
Enter Joe Thatcher and Tom Gorzelanny.
The Indians agreed to terms with Thatcher on a minor league deal with a non-roster spring training invitation last week. Thatcher, 34, posted a 3.18 ERA in 43 outings last season. He boasts a 3.38 ERA, with more than a strikeout per inning, over nine major league seasons.
The club announced an agreement with Gorzelanny on Monday.
