CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Josh Tomlin would prefer that he receives his next sign from Yan Gomes or Roberto Perez long before May 4.
Tomlin already completed an 18-day pitching program. He wouldn't mind making his next start on normal rest. Barring interference from Mother Nature or the injury bug -- Tomlin's cramping hamstring is fine, by the way -- the right-hander should get his wish.
A confluence of variables triggered Tomlin's lengthy layoff. He earned the No. 5 spot in the rotation as the Indians departed spring training in Goodyear, Arizona. The club endured a trio of postponements in its first week of the regular season.
