The Cleveland Indians faced the familiar problem faced by American League teams in the World Series. They had a player they wanted in the lineup, but there was seemingly no spot for him in the field.
Terry Francona decided to fix the problem by putting Carlos Santana out in left field. In hindsight, he could have just played first base, as Mike Napoli struggled throughout the series.
Regardless, Santana played in left and did not make any mistakes, making him a legitimate option to play the position in 2017. But for now, there are no plans to put him out there, according to Jordan Bastian of Indians.
