Cleveland Indians get Philllies' Dan Otero for cash; Jerry Sands dropped from roster

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians keep adding a little bit of this and a little bit of that to their 2016 roster.

On Friday they acquired right-hander Dan Otero from the Phillies for cash considerations. Otero has spent the last three years in Oakland's bullpen, but on Nov. 3 was claimed on waivers by the Phillies. Outfielder Jerry Sands was designated for assignment to make room for Otero on the 40-man roster.

Otero, 30, went 2-4 with a 6.75 ERA in 41 appearances for the last-place A's in the AL West last season.
