CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When asked about the Indians' addition of Edwin Encarnacion, three of Carlos Santana's first five words were "happy."
The others were "oh" and "very."
It's no surprise, then, that Santana and Encarnacion have been joined at the hip during spring training. They of course stand side-by-side at first base during fielding drills. Their have adjacent lockers in the team's clubhouse. They'll sit next to each other in the practice field dugout during breaks.
"Me and Edwin, we have been very good friends for a long time -- since before he came here," Santana said.
