In this afternoon’s Game Thread, I quoted my high school track coach’s favorite saying “It’s never as good as it seems, and it’s never as bad as it seems.” The point of this quote, which he shared with me when I was a young track coach, was that you can’t let the highs and lows of sports affect you too much. Seasons are marathons, and it’s better to keep an even keel.
