Cleveland Indians star Michael Brantley experienced a reoccurrence of pain in his right shoulder while participating in hitting activities last week, the team announced Tuesday.
The former All-Star outfielder was seen Monday by Dr. Stephen O'Brien at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York City, and O'Brien confirmed that Brantley is "experiencing symptoms consistent with chronic biceps tendinitis."
Brantley, 29, has played in just 11 games this season as he is recovering from surgery he underwent last offseason to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Though the Indians have been able to lead the AL Central for much of the season without their star outfielder, his return was seen as a potential boost to their pennant hopes this fall.
