Adam Plutko tossed a quality start, giving up three runs in 6.2 innings on seven hits while striking out five and walking two, but it wasn’t enough as the Columbus offense had a rare off night.
Ronny Rodriguez had the lone multi-hit game for the Clippers, going 2-4 with a triple while Tyler Naquin and Yandy Diaz both reached base safely twice with a hit and a walk, but Columbus couldn’t string their hits or walks together to put some support on the board.
Veteran catcher Adam Moore brought the game within one with a solo home run in the ninth but the rally would end there.
