CLEVELAND - With another solid start Friday evening against the Tigers, this one a purely dominant outing, Indians rookie Shane Bieber has joined impressive company.
In his third Major League start, the right-hander tossed seven shutout innings, allowing a walk and four hits while striking out nine in the Indians' 10-0 win against Detroit at Progressive Field. Bieber became the first Tribe pitcher since Luis Tiant to strike out six or more batters in each of his first three Major League starts.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Indians (41-33), padding a six-game lead in the American League Central, while the second-place Tigers fell to 36-40.
