CLEVELAND, Ohio – When Chris Antonetti joined the Indians in 1999, he replaced Paul DePodesta, who had just been hired as assistant general manager of the Oakland A's.
Today Antonetti has gone from an assistant in the Tribe's baseball operations department to president of baseball operations. DePodesta, meanwhile, after a long and varied career in baseball has found his way back to Cleveland. But his new home is not with the Indians, but with the Browns.
The Browns, rebuilding yet again, announced Tuesday that they have hired DePodesta as chief strategy officer. DePodesta joins the Browns from the New York Mets, who won the National League pennant last season before losing the World Series to the Kansas City Royals in five games.
