The 4-year-old twin daughters of Indians veteran utility man Mike Aviles will throw out the ceremonial first pitches on Thursday night at Progressive Field.
Aviles' daughters, Adriana and Maiya, will both head to the mound prior to Cleveland's series finale against the Yankees. Adriana has been in the news this season because she was diagnosed with childhood leukemia in May, and she's being treated for her condition at the Cleveland Clinic.
The Indians all made a statement in late May, when they shaved their heads in support of Aviles and his daughter. The team's chairman and CEO, Paul Dolan, also had his head shaved as part of the movement in June, and Aviles was the one wielding the clippers.
