AL All-Star manager Terry Francona relieved he's no longer involved in selection process

CLEVELAND, Ohio - MLB's new basic agreement no longer allows managers to play a part in selecting rosters for the All-Star Game. Terry Francona couldn't be happier.

One of the perks for helping the Indians reach the World Series last year is that Francona will manage the American League All-Stars on July 11 at Marlins Park. It will be the third time he's managed in the All-Star Game.

"In the new agreement the manager has zero say-so in the selection of the players, which is fine by me," said Francona. "Unless I have the ability to take some guys from the Indians, I'm fine with somebody else picking.
