CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians will send a pitcher with World Series experience to the mound on Tuesday night. Dennis Martinez will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Martinez started Games 2 and 6 of the 1995 World Series, which the Indians lost, in six games, to the Atlanta Braves. With a win on Tuesday, the Indians would capture the franchise's first championship since 1948.
Martinez, 61, spent the 1994-96 campaigns with Cleveland. He was an All-Star in 1995, when the Tribe advanced to the postseason for the first time in 41 years. Martinez dodged harm in Game 6 against the Braves, as he held Atlanta scoreless despite allowing four hits and five walks.
