In today's Indians trade rumors and news update, the San Francisco Giants have targeted two integral parts of the Cleveland Indians' roster for a potential trade before the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline.
According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports 1, the Giants are mulling over the possibility of a deal for Cleveland starting shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and/or utility man Mike Aviles - provided that the Indians are willing to part with either of them:
As I just said on @MLBONFOX pregame, Giants considering Asdrubal Cabrera and Mike Aviles as trade options -- *if* the Indians sell.

2014 has been a relatively underwhelming year for Cabrera, with the two-time AL All-Star hitting just .250 with nine home runs and 32 RBIs. However, his positional flexibility makes him a coveted asset for a Giants team in need of pop and stability up the middle.
Aviles can also slot at second or short, along with third base, left field, and center field. It is more likely that the Indians would offload Aviles due to the logjam ahead of him at several positions. However, his ability to spot start anywhere would be sorely missed by an Indians team still gauging their chances in the AL Central.
