The Cleveland Indians have a contract offer out to slugger Jason Giambi, but it's not in hopes of bringing him back as a designated or pinch hitter.
Here's CBS Sports' Jon Heyman with the report:
indians have standing offer to jason giambi to work for them in non-playing role. great persona. would be plus for team.

"Nothing really has changed with Jason," GM Chris Antonetti wrote in a recent email, via Brandon Wise of CBS Sports. "[Manager Terry Francona] and I have both stayed in touch with 'G' and told him that we'd love to keep him in the organization in some capacity. We haven't gotten more specific than that at this point."
While it's not clear exactly what capacity the Indians want Giambi to fill, his status as one of the clubhouse's most beloved figures makes keeping him around a major point of interest for the organization going forward.
