Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians has won the AL Cy Young award, narrowly beating out Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners.
Kluber received 17 first-place votes and 169 points from the Baseball Writers Association of America, while Hernandez received 13 first-place votes and 159 points. Kluber was 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA in 2014, his second full season as a starter, while Hernandez posted a 15-6 record with a 2.14 ERA. Kluber had 269 strikeouts in 235 2/3 innings, while Hernandez had 248 strikeouts in 256 innings of action.
Kluber, 28, is the fifth Indians pitcher to win the award.
