The 2015 Cleveland Indians have struggled with inconsistency all season long, but that’s far from a death sentence for this talented bunch. Here are 3 reasons why the Indians can win the World Series this year:
3) Yan Gomes will be back and better than ever
Gomes has only played in five games this season because of a knee injury, but he’ll return from the 15-day DL on Sunday, giving the Indians their defensive leader and young offensive star back. He hit .278 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI’s in his first season as Cleveland’s full-time starting catcher, and those numbers are only expected to increase – if he can stay healthy.
2) Corey Kluber's dominance
The reigning AL Cy Young winner got off to a really slow start this season, posting an awful 0-5 record with a 5.04 ERA, but he has turned things around in a big way with a 1-0 record and 30 strikeouts over his last two starts. Now that Kluber has regained his control, the Indians have their ace back. It won't be long before the wins will start rolling in for Cleveland.
1) Tight AL Central Race
The top and bottom of the division is separated by a mere nine games. Each of the remaining four teams have glaring flaws to be addressed. While the Royals and Tigers are where they were expected to be at the beginning of the season, they're not more talented than a healthy Cleveland squad. With three quarters of the season still to go, the Indians have plenty of time to make up the ground in the division - which we expect them to do.
