CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Quicken Loans Renovation deal - months in the making among the Cavaliers, Cuyahoga County and the city of Cleveland - faces a potential wrinkle as the county is about to borrow $140 million for the project.
The Greater Cleveland Congregations, a social activist group, submitted petitions Monday aimed at overturning the city's portion of the deal, which involves dedicating more than $80 million in admissions tax money generated at The Q to help repay the debt.
At this point, it is uncertain whether petitions legally can force a public vote on overturning the city's deal.
