CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Larry Sanders' NBA comeback with the Cavs is going to start in the D-League.
Cavs general manager David Griffin said Sanders, 28, a 6-11 forward/center who has not played professionally in more than two years, would play for the Canton Charge Saturday and remain with them while Cleveland goes on a four-game road trip that starts Friday.
Griffin said Sanders would sit on the bench for the Cavs tonight against the Pistons and Thursday at home against Utah, but probably would not play. He said signing Sanders was a "long-term" play and that Cleveland might've brought him in even if Andrew Bogut had not broke his leg in his Cleveland debut March 6.
