OAKLAND, CALIF.: As the Cavaliers took the court Saturday to begin practice at Oracle Arena, Mike Miller grabbed a basketball, turned to shoot and began to sing a familiar tune.
“Mama said there’d be days like this,” Miller crooned.
Unfortunately, mama couldn’t even have predicted this.
The Cavaliers are running out of bodies entering Sunday’s Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Kevin Love is in a suit, Kyrie Irving is in Cleveland and LeBron James is adjusting his cape. If they are going to do this, if the Cavs are going to continue to overcome all of the odds and injuries and 51 years of history, James will have to play the best basketball of his career.
