Thornton has had a long couple of weeks. When the trade between his Houston Rockets and the Pistons was voided, it seemed he would finish the year back with the Rockets.
With the team out of contention, and having a ton of reported internal issues, instead they set Thornton free. One would assume the Pistons would have some interest but Calvin Watkins is reporting the Cavs certainly due:

With the buyout deadline today, the wait and see mode might be related to what other players become available.
